Opportunities to reach your goals pop up all around you, all the time. Are you open to these opportunities? We all want to say yes, but many of us close doors all the time. Usually without being aware that we are doing do. The keys to finding and grabbing opportunities is to first be open to seeing them and next to be willing to act.
How can we make ourselves more open to opportunities?
Learn to listen and observe. Then act. It really is that simple
Here are 5 tips to help you take advantage of all opportunities that come your way:
- When contacting someone ask if it is a good time to call and respect their answer. We call people on our time, not theirs. Respect their time and watch how much more open to you they become.
- Follow up in the time frame they have requested. If they tell you they will be available to speak with you on Thursday between 10 and 12, call them at that time.
- If someone is willing to give you or your product a chance, find a way to let them try it. Of course, we all want long term contracts but sometimes the trial is a way to get there.
- Listen and make notes when your customers/bosses/employees/prospects talk to you, so you can respond to their needs
- Ask questions and listen to the answers. Ask people how you might help them and ask for help when you need it.
Finding opportunity is so much easier when you go out and look for it. This week go out and listen. You may be surprised by what you hear.
