How to Audit Your Marketing in 20 Minutes or Less

“In the world of Internet Customer Service, it’s important to remember your competitor is only one mouse click away.” — Doug Warner

Have you ever looked at your marketing and thought, “Is any of this actually working?”

If you’re pouring energy into posts, emails, and content but not seeing clear results, you’re not alone. The good news? You don’t need a marketing agency or a 12-tab spreadsheet to figure out what’s working. What you need is a clear, simple marketing audit—and I’ll show you how to do it in under 20 minutes.

I’m Angie Dobransky, business coach and founder of RAD Strategic Partners, and I help entrepreneurs unlock their potential by simplifying their strategies for consistent, sustainable growth.

Why You Need a Marketing Audit (Now, Not Later)

Marketing can feel like a guessing game—especially when you’re doing a dozen different things and hoping something sticks. The truth is, if your efforts aren’t producing results, it’s time to step back and assess with intention.

A marketing audit helps you:

  • Identify what’s actually driving engagement or conversions
  • Spot wasted time, energy, and money
  • Align your efforts with your audience and goals

You don’t need to wait for the end of the quarter. You need a quiet 20 minutes and a willingness to be honest.

Step 1: Pull Your Last 30 Days of Content

This might include:

  • Social media posts
  • Email newsletters
  • Blog articles
  • Ads
  • Webinars or downloads

Gather it all into one space so you can review it holistically.

Step 2: Label Each Piece: Keep, Tweak, or Cut

Use these categories to make quick decisions:

  • Keep – It’s working! Good engagement, traffic, or results.
  • 🔄 Tweak – Has potential but needs a message, design, or targeting refresh.
  • Cut – Not performing, out of alignment, or just a “should” that doesn’t serve your goals.

This step alone often brings major clarity.

Step 3: Ask 5 Alignment Questions

Here’s where it gets powerful. For each piece of content, ask:

  1. Does this speak directly to my ideal client?
  2. Is the message clear and focused?
  3. Is there a strong call to action?
  4. Am I showing up consistently?
  5. Does this reflect who I am and what I stand for?

If you answered “no” to more than one… it might be time to refine your approach.

“Stop doing things just because you feel like you should. Start doing things because they move the needle.” — Angie Dobransky

Aligned Marketing = Powerful Marketing

This audit isn’t about getting everything perfect. It’s about creating alignment—between your message, your audience, your offer, and your presence. That’s the kind of marketing that builds trust and drives real results.

When your content reflects your brand and values—and actually helps your people—you’ll be amazed at how quickly momentum builds.
